Flamed Granite

Flamed granite is another finish that granite comes in. Unlike polished granite, flamed and thermo granite finishes require different care than polished granite. While flamed and thermo granites are hard materials, the finishes are porous and need to be properly sealed. There are several different types of sealers that can be used but the most popular are penetrating sealers or topical sealers.

The important thing to remember when sealing flamed or thermo granite is to use a sealer that allows to the stone to breathe naturally. Topical coatings can seal the stone so it cannot breath and result in problems with the stone.
